The Tower of Capigliolu is a ruined Genoese tower located in the municipality of Casaglione, on the west coast of Corsica. The tower stands at a height of 91 metres on the tip of Punta Capigliolo, north of the Gulf of La Liscia.
The construction of the tower began in 1582. It was part of a series of coastal defences built by the Republic of Genoa between 1530 and 1620 to stem attacks by Barbary pirates. In 2007, the tower was added to the General Inventory of Cultural Heritage maintained by the French Ministry of Culture.
Short walk to Punta Capigliolu. The departure is from the departmental road 81 to the north of the Gulf of Liscia just after the Casaglione fire station.
After parking your car at the entrance to Tiuccia on an open area, the path starts due north. The path allows you to discover the fort and the Genoese tower of Capigliolu with a splendid view on the beach of Liamone, but also on the gulf of Liscia.
