THE TOWER OF ELBO
It is part of a group of towers of the defence system set up by the Genoese between 1605 and 1611
Located in the commune of Osani, just outside the limits of the Scandola nature reserve, it can be reached by boat.
The bay of the same name was a protected anchorage on the west coast, with fresh water, in the valley which leads to the bottom of the bay the inhabitants of Girolata used to cultivate gardens and drive their herds in places which were very difficult to access. On the heights, rustic, almost troglodyte dwellings have been built as shelters.
The site is completely off-limits to the public and therefore has no coastal paths. The only way around is by boat, and it is an enchantment for the eyes.
