aïtone forest

The forest of Aïtone, near the village of Evisa, dominates the Gulf of Porto. It produces the most beautiful laricio pines of Corsica, with that of Valdu Niellu. The latter extends over more than 4,000 hectares. It can be reached by a hiking trail through the chestnut groves from Evisa (if you have children, there are educational panels describing the local flora), or by car via a mountain road. In the forest, numerous natural pools and the Aïtone waterfalls may tempt the most courageous. The water rarely exceeds 11 degrees in summer!
